Hanford Support Contract Finalized

By Matthew Potter | Apr 30, 2009

We had written in the past about the protest of awarding to Lockheed the Mission Support Contract at the Department of Energy’s Hanford site. The protest was settled in December, 2008 with an agreement by the DOE to address issues raised by the protest.

The Tri City Herald reports that this part is complete and Lockheed, who won the contract, originally will begin to take over the work from Fluor Hanford. The contract with Fluor Hanford had to be extended to cover the period after the resolution of the protest.

The total value of this contract which provides support services to the site could be over $3 billion. Lockheed is leading a broad team of companies to carry out this work.
