USMC Contract Awarded to Elcan Optical Technologies
The U.S. Marine Corps selected Elcan Optical Technologies for the Medium Range Thermal Bi-Ocular (MRTB) program. This subsidiary of Raytheon won the contract as reported here at Reuters. The $180 million contract was hoped to be won by FLIR Systems. Elcan has in the last few years aggressively moved into the military market by developing a new combat sight that was purchased by the U.S. Special Forces and is under evaluation by other parts of the U.S. military.
