Rick Gombos Follows Cadogan from Yahoo to OpenX

Long-time Yahoo Search Marketing strategy and finance man Rick Gombos has followed his boss, search marketing pioneer, Tim Cadogan, to OpenX. Cadogan jumped the Yahoo ship back in February to head up OpenX, an open source advertising community for Web publishers.

Gombos, who left Yahoo at about the same time as Cadogan, had been with the company since it was GoTo.com, beginning there as a strategic analyst in 2000. As the company morphed into Overture and was eventually bought by Yahoo, Gambos rose to become senior director of operations finance, global advertising marketplaces. In February, he left to take a brief, four-month stint as senior director, finance and analytics at Veoh Networks, a video sharing start-up.

At OpenX, Gombos’ new title is “head of finance and operations.”
