American hawking sandwiches during flights – American Airlines announced today it will  begin selling more $6 sandwiches on its flights, this time a panini and a roast beef ciabatta. Sandwiches are only offered after 10 a.m. and on flights lasting at last three hours. [Source: American Airlines]

Horizon Airlines rubs decision in Pendleton, Ore.’s face – In an attempt to show “What Might Have Been,” Horizon Air, a division of Alaska Airlines, began direct flights from Pendleton, Ore. to Seattle, using a 76-seat Q400s. The new plane was an upgrade from the previous 37-seater previously flown from Portland. The commuter service disappears after only five weeks because the Pendleton City Councilchose to use a nine-seat plane to Portland. New Orleans still trying to recover from Hurricane Katrina and economy — New Orleans is still recovering from 2005’s Hurricane Katrina, only to be hit with something worse — the economy and its declining tourism dollar. Although the Lousiana Recovery Authority gave out $31.2 million in grants to local businesses, the awards of only $20,000 each don’t help much with rising costs.  [Source: AP]
