RE: BNET's Ad Agency Layoff Counter: 6,140 Jobs Lost

Here's some good news. VisitBritain has a job opening. Accepting applications for one position: "International Partnerships Consultant (marketing) for the APMEA region. If you are interested in this role, email jobs.opportunities@visitbritain.org" Certified EEG issued by a licensed physician must show that open-eyed applicants' beta waves are within two standard deviations of normal adults. Benzodiazepine treatment to achieve acceptable readings are encouraged. Hydroencephalitics are welcomed to apply if their beta waves fall within required parameters.

RE: BNET's Ad Agency Layoff Counter: 6,140 Jobs Lost

Dismal indeed. Always a shame to see people
lose their jobs. It's easy to see these
numbers--especially ones that are this high and
forget the fallout--that there are families and
lives attached and affected by each one of
    those layoffs.

On a positive note, this will lead to a lot of
talented people hanging their shingle and doing
great work for clients in search of smart work
    and good value.

    There's always an upside!

Jim (and David), FYI I tried using your "suggest a source" and "email Jim Edwards" contact forms, but received a failed message each time... might want to check into that.

An hour ago I was contacted by an employee at the Rapp Ad Agency (formerly Rapp Collins), who said that 10% of Rapp's workforce is being trimmed, and that he can confirm the layoffs have started at both the New York and Chicago offices. 17 layoffs have been confirmed thus far, with 45 more to be expected today / this week. (approx 625 employees / 10% layoffs)

    My article is here:

Earlier today, I heard from a third party that Mullen Advertising recently laid off 50 employees. I am not sure if the number above reflects this recent layoff.

    McCann's 2nd BIG LAYOFF....coming JUNE 11th 2009

McCann San Francisco will be laying off more than half of their San Francisco office on June 11th. With little to no work left after repeated senior management blunders and failed pitch after failed pitch it is finally time to face the facts..... LAYOFFS

The layoff list has already been created and the exact number will be found out on the 11th.

Details of the Seattle office's layoffs this week are trickling in. Sad times for the overwork and dedicated employees who followed their leaders into a massacre.

Wish you all a speedy recovery from this mess.
